The Owen Sound Attack of the Ontario Hockey League is please to announce that they have signed Jarrod "Iron" Maidens, their 1st round selection (3rd overall) in the 2010 OHL Priority Selection to a standard Ontario Hockey League Player Agreement.

Maidens, a 6'01, 170lb forward played his Minor Midget Season with the Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs amassing 63 goals, 41 assists for 104 points in only 57 games played.

The 2010 Owen Sound Attack Ray McKelvie Award Winner is described as a "skilled forward that has all the physical tools to be a dominant player at the next level." Owen Sound Attack General Manager Dale DeGray says the Ridgeway, ON. native is a pure goal scorer. "When you think pro caliber shot and skating, you think Jarrod Maidens. This kid has all of the tools to be a premier offensive talent in this league and fans in Owen Sound should be very excited about watching this player."

The Attack welcomes Jarrod and his family to the organization and looks forward to an exciting and successful 2010-2011 season.

Need to lose the "IRON" if Jarrod were a rock star, boxer or UFC fighter it maybe exceptable but he's a hockey player. Just sounds corny IMO.

Iron Maiden debuted in 1980. Jarrod was born in 1994. Their career was pretty much over by the time he was born. I agree, no need to tag him with dumb cliche nickname.

he had the name before he had anything to do with the Attack...

Folks relax!!

It's a nickname and it's not important or worth arguing about especially if the kid is comfortable with the name.
