Generals and Knights for the Attack

Fresh off of a decisive victory over the Erie Otters, the Owen Sound Attack now turn their attention to the Oshawa Generals and London Knights for a pair of games this weekend.

Rebounding nicely from a 4-1 Thanksgiving Day loss against the Kitchener Rangers, Owen Sound took down the defending J.Ross Robertson Cup Champion Otters handily by a score of 5-2 on Wednesday night to pull within a point of Kitchener for first in the Midwest Division.

The Attack will open up their back-to-back weekend by playing host to the Oshawa Generals in a 7:30pm puck drop on Saturday, Oct. 14 in what is the lone trip by the Gennies to the Bayshore in 2017-18.

Sitting in 4th place in the East Division, Oshawa is off to a 3-2-1 start on the year, good for 7 points and is led by former Otters draft pick Allan McShane who has one goal and nine assists in six games so far this season.

The Generals hosted the Attack in a neutral site pre-season game this year, a 4-1 Owen Sound win that saw 2017 first round draft pick Mitchell Russell pocket three goals.

Heading into Saturday night, the Bayshore Boys’ prolific offence continues to roll and Vegas Golden Knights’ prospect Nick Suzuki and free agent defenceman Sean Durzi see themselves tied for 2nd in the OHL scoring race with 12 points apiece.

Durzi’s two goals and 10 assists on the season has him at the top of the charts for points by a defenceman in the league, three points up on North Bay’s Cam Dineen.

Tickets for Saturday night’s game can be purchased at the MacVicar & McComb ReMax Attack Box Office, online at www.attackhockey.com, or by calling 519-371-7452.

Following the contest agains the Generals, Owen Sound will hop on the bus and head down to Budweiser Gardens for a Sunday matinee against the London Knights.

Off to a slow start, London is tied for last in the Ontario Hockey League with just two points through seven games on the season.

Their lone win came via a 3-2 overtime decision against the Saginaw Spirit.

Fans can catch that game live on Rogers Local 53 or by tuning in to Fred Wallace’s call on Kia of Owen Sound/Terry’s Trailer Service Bear Radio on 560 CFOS.

The Weekend Preview is presented by Joe Tomato’s, located next to the Galaxy Cinemas on the Sunset Strip. Present your Attack ticket stub following each Attack Home Game at Joe Tomato’s to receive 50% off wings and appetizers.

The Attack sure can score goals with 12 last night with 5 on the PP out of 6 chances. That should help raise the perecentage on the PP.

What a night for Sushko with 4 goals and 2 of thme shorthanded.

A bit of a chippy game for some reason. I'n not sure why with teams that only play twice a year.

Bowman made 3 really outstanding saves in the game but still allows 6 goals on only 34 shots. Not good for the stats.

Nice to see Doherty get his 1st OHL goal, he had a great training camp and gets rewarded for his efforts.

Didn't look good for Bourque leaving the ice after what I believe was a slash on the ankle.

Suzuki and Druzi are 1st and 2nd in the points race after that game. Well done boys.

Let's hope they saved some goals for the London game today.

Lots of belligerence last night. Tough to see Bourque get hurt, he was playing really well. No Gadjo in the third again last night. What's up there?
Sushko was on fire last night, could have had another couple in the third. On to London, hopefully the boys saved something for today.

Bourque took a hit and they both went down in a heap, but Bourque's leg was bent at the knee behind him and got pinned in the bottom of the pile. Either a knee or an ankle. The knee looked like it was bent a bit awkwardly....and the whole leg 'sprung' out of the pile when it would go no further. In other words....he fell over backwards on it with the Oshawa player on it as well as him. Probably a torn knee or sprained ankle....or if we're lucky...some bruising and a few days off.

I didn't see what happened to Gadjovich. Anyone see anything?

Maybe he's just under-the-weather and wasn't needed. (There is a bug going around, so it's possible).

I hope he's okay.

How's Struthers doing?

Well much better game by Bowman today even though London made it alot closer then it should of been. Good teams find ways to win and we did just that but London should not be taken lightly they are never an easy game atleast not for us especially in there barn. Formenton back to the Knights as of today so they will be better moving forward Im sure. Take the 2 points and move on to prep for the next few games. All in all pretty solid week for the Attack.

Two points in London is always a good thing. Especially missing 3 key guys.

Nice to see the boys get 6/6 pts on the week. Yes there are lots of things to work on, but winning is much better than losing .

Bowman played his best game as an Attacker against London. Although I still find he is slow to react on a change of direction behind his net, noticed it multiple games already. Today that cost him.

Hope the injuries to Gadjovich and Bourque are not serious. Big holes if they are out for a long time.

WE lost 4-5 key offensive zone faceoffs in the last few minutes of the 3rd. Bolsters my belief we need help here.

Durzi is a beast. A 12th round pick, have I said that before, a 12th round pick!

Always nice to win in London. Good weekend boys
