Digger, you were wondering how the London fans were going to feel supporting their team after the big sell off, how are the Owen Sound fans going to feel after their GM has not replaced the no.1 position in any hockey game all season long. Instead filling it with extras and rookies.
There is never a right way to do the wrong thing.

Lafreniere was not McNiven, but he was capable.

Nobody thought....'with this goalie we can do anything'. I'm assuming nobody thought that.

What I was thinking is that they can win with this goalie in net if they outplay the other team....sometimes. In other words, they have a chance to make a little noise.

As for the 'selfish reasons' idea. Been thinking something is off since the start of the season.

There is no worse way to lose an incredible season (short of tragedy) than to do it while humiliating your goaltenders and crushing your own team's spirit....and your fans. Losing is supposed to be generally deserved in a team game....at least most of the time. They do not deserve this.

Coach Gill must be thrilled with the work of his bosses.

...and Struthers...and a 2nd round pick...just awful to see this trade happen. No knock on McKenzie, but he's no goalie.

Struthers is going to get better and better and better....and better....and already is pretty good.

Note that the NB play by play and colour guys both agree that NB and OS should be regular trading partners....because they know they cleaned the Attack right out....and they call that fair. I totally agree with them. Stan showed how you bamboozle someone into overpaying for things they don't even need and how to insist on getting a younger carbon copy in the process.

DD is doing things exactly backwards most of the time. Building when he shouldn't, selling when he shouldn't. Tweaking the wrong areas. Holding back when it's now or never. Just awful.

Goaltending is and was atrocious.

...and absolutely yes.....I could do much better....infinitely better....as I'm sure someone is going to pull, the old "You think you could do better?" line. Yes, I do. It's not even up for debate. Many of us could....and clearly, many of us couldn't.

Durzi leaves with Injury

Attack on power play, Szypula takes a penalty and negates that before borque takes another to put the team down twofold

Same story

Maybe Struthers scored again tonite?

I know I could have done better I would not have let the goaltending situation go that would have been addressed in the summer. I would have got a legit #1 then even if McNiven came back you can move a goalie pretty easy. Like I have said before we have a LEGIT #1 all season we are all happy right now. I still can't wrap by brain around not seeing what Propp could do,maybe no better than anyone else but we don't know. I sure hope Guzda has a good sports pycologist to work with we may be ruining our future as we speak.

and it's totally unfair to him.

He has great potential and I do hope he doesn't let this get him down....but it's got to be tough.

I have to think DD was expecting McNiven to return. It's the only way anything makes any sense at all. But he should have gone all in for the goaltender just in case....because you can always flip him or keep him as needed.

The Propp trade was a head-scratcher, even when it came before Bowman walked. Propp is probably one of the better goaltenders his age, though not the best by any stratch....he's pretty good (has better stats and far better size than Sime, who had no trouble shutting down the Attack) and is two years older than Guzda, which would set a team up pretty well. You would obviously rather have a more experienced guy if you're hoping to go on a run, but he was already in hand and was better than anyone who's been here in the last two years, aside from MM. Bad timing for sure.

Propp with a shutout tonite and Struthers pots another.

DeGrey knew before the season started that McNiven wasn't coming back, the kid wanted to make some $$$.

Saturday Highlights: Troops turning it up
NORTH BAY 3 – BARRIE 0
Christian Propp made 19 saves to blank his former club as the North Bay Battalion won their fourth straight contest, defeating the Barrie Colts 3-0 on the road. Adam McMaster (4), Luke Burghardt (20) and Matthew Struthers (12) all scored for the Battalion as they outshot the Colts 31-19 while not taking a single penalty. Justin Brazeau chipped in with two assists as the Battalion improved to 17-19-5-1, three points ahead of fourth place Mississauga in the Central Division. Kai Edmonds made 28 saves for the Colts as they fell out of first place as a result of the loss combined with a Niagara IceDogs victory over Erie. Barrie holds a 24-15-2-1 mark on the campaign.

I never imagined anything so inept to be perfectly honest.......honest. I'm going to be a while getting used to this particular piece of work.....so anyone who wants to whine about my whining better get used to being busy. There are trades that are iffy and then there are trades that should get you looking for a new job. Period.
