Jeff Hicks unappreciation thread.

Postby ronbholmes on Fri Jul 09, 2010 3:27 pm

How about a thread dedicated to all things Jeff Hicks. Got a complaint, post it here. Maybe you love him, post it here. Maybe you just need to whine about something, why not Hicks? Post it here and stop hijacking threads about Rangers related topics.

If you can't stop reading what Hicks writes but you can't stop complaining about him either this is the place for you.
Have at 'er!!!
Get well soon Ben.

How about annoying phrases he uses? These are just the stupid phrases found in his blog! I know blogs are informal but he uses the same Mickey Mouse style of writing in his articles. I feel like I am reading an 8th graders work..... Despite the fact that I do not like his writing or antagonistic ways, I do read his articles as it is the only way to find out what is going on with the Rangers, especially in the off season.

It is unfortunate that there wasn't a draft or minor league system for wanabee sport's writers. Hicks could have learned to become a professional writer. However , he never received that grounding and, obviously, isn't getting any tutoring at the Record.

Like I said, my stress level dropped when i stopped reading him. You don't information, you get speculation. Use the Rangers, website, 570 News and this board and you'll get all the information you need.

First I would like to say I hope Hicks isn't the only reason someone would chose to buy a newspaper. If that is the case he might start to think that it is true that the universe does revolve around him. I wonder what Stephen Hawking thinks about that theory? As I have said before because of his job Hicks is on the phone constantly around the league digging up information on player movements and other hockey related issues which gives him some incite that the average fan does not have privilege to. I don't recall a Ranger fan though that doesn't cringe when his name is mentioned. Its because of the negative slant he writes against the team on many occasions or his lack of not reporting what happened in a game the night before. In the Tobias article he was correct in saying that not many imports players have gone on to greater things but he left out the fact that only one or two percent of all players in the world make it to the pros and stay there for any length of time. Not many have what it takes. Hicks knows this and yet chose to focus on the Rangers in a negative way. Maybe someone should volunteer to go down to the record and pull that big sliver out of his butt that Deboer put there. By the way it wasn't the forum fans that highjacked the Tobias thread it was Hicks himself. I hope the next time he writes something as dumb in the Record he can look on here and see what people think of it.

Things must be pretty boring in Rangersland if this is our topic of discussion, that and the outlook for the team too sunny, etc.

I don't see the productivity in bashing Jeff Hicks in a thread here. I think that we should feel very happy that we don't have the crap coverage that many junior teams get, and I'm sincere in those comments summaries where it's obvious that the writer didn't even watch the game on-line etc.

Visit this link:

http://therecord.blogs.com/rangers_rap/ ... folks.html (I only discovered this via google search - who's linking into Rangersrush.com) and there's a reason why.

Read Berkovich's comments at the bottom.

Are you willing to post on this forum about Mr. Hicks. Put your face and name on the forum. Perhaps some of you are?? And yes, in an Eric Bishoff way Jeff is trying to stir the pot. I will say, there's some merit to his article about how the Jr. route is not always the best route for these guys from overseas.

I am NOT suggesting that we litter his blog with hate literature, but seriously has anyone thought about talking with Jeff in person, you can always ask - I'm NOT talking about at the game, he's on the clock then and has a difficult job. God forbid that he get writer's block because there's virtually no deadline for the guy these days. Final horn sounds and he's got 30 minutes to polish off an article??

I will contemplate re-opening this thread, but just as an FYI - I don't see it being likely.
