Rangers in Saginaw

Postby JEF on Sun Feb 19, 2017 8:58 am

Star Wars night in Saginaw and the Rangers leave with 2 points.

The Rangers got off to a good start with a 2-0 lead but then coasted a bit and the Spirit tied it up. The Rangers got the lead back but the Spirit tied it late in the 3rd and had some momentum going into OT.

Good on the Rangers to take the win and the 2 points. Joseph Garreffa scored a beauty in OT finishing a great play that started with an incredible pass from Darby Llewllyn to Dylan DiOerna and then to Garreffa

Llewellyn, Damiani and McHugh got the other goals. Garreffa has had a good weekend so far he's joined Mascherin and Bunnaman in the 20 goal club and Llewellyn and Meireles aren't far behind in joining them.

Hopefully the Rangers can put out a consistent and strong effort in all game long in their remaining games. When they do the work and execute the game plan they can do okay. As Friday's game against the Soo showed when they play that way good things can happen.

Let's make it 4 in a row in Hamilton on Monday.

I felt bad for Richardson in the late going. That tying goal was basically a whiffed shot by a Saginaw player which then hit something (maybe a Ranger leg?) near the net and deflected about 45 degrees to go right into the corner of the net.

Fortunately Garreffa made up for it with a nice OT winner.

Hamilton will be tough on Monday. Carty seems to be playing well. Maybe the Rangers have some secret weaknesses they can exploit in Carty's game!
