Press Conference on Friday?

Postby Toadman on Mon Mar 27, 2017 6:03 pm

"The Kitchener Rangers will be holding a press conference on Friday, March 31st at 10am in the Subscribers Lounge of the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium. "

Must be something notable that warrants advance billing & can't wait until the season concludes ... likely a signing? Any departures would likely best be offseason announcements and any bad news would be immediate I presume...?

' The Kitchener Rangers would like to announce that Overager has been named Head Coach, GM, VP of Marketing, and Top Guy in Charge of the 3 Star Selections"

I'm betting on the resignation that some have been asking for.
Thanks Steve for some good years.

Sure... but you wouldn't answer anyone's questions

mcup- I'm not sure that the mediocre performance of the Rangers over the last 6 or 7 years can be attributed to Steve B. I believe that Hiebert's lack of upper level hockey experience was our major problem and his hiring was Steve's doing. However, the press conference could simply be to announce a commitment to the Rangers by a player whose rights we own. Just a guess.

Not sure what the press conference is about, but highly doubtful it is a player signing. Have we ever announced a press conference 5 days ahead of announcing a player commitment?

Also doubt it would be Steve B. stepping down - timing doesn't seem right with it happening on a game day in the playoffs. You'd think they would wait for playoffs to be over to make that kind of announcement.

If it's a signing, it would probably have to be significant enough to require notice for arrangements/hype. Maybe Lias Andersson is signing and will be on hand (w/Gustaf Franzen in town), perhaps someone involved in the NCAA Division I Regionals (last weekend), or otherwise NCAA encumbered/commited, is deciding to come?

Maybe it's something trivial like Tex's contract being extended or a biggie like they're putting Overager on notice that we're going for it (2019-20?)

Josh Brown is speculating a bid for the 2020 Memorial Cup.

Sounds like a good guess to me.

Doesn't the QMJHL have the 2020 Memorial Cup?

Hmmm

A new position of President of Hockey Operations?

A retirement?

A change in roles?

A partnership with the Victus Academy for education to match what the Knights have?

Plans for a new arena?

A new community partnership?

John Cosman has bought the team?

Going back to to 90's crest and Cooperalls next season?
