Dec 15 : the Soo Juggernaut rolls into the Aud

Postby EchoThree on Fri Dec 15, 2017 11:57 am

This will be a very tough test for the Rangers. They will need to be on top of their game in every area. On the plus side for Kitchener, the Soo is without a couple of their top players due to the World Junior Camp.

As usual recently, the start will be key. If the Rangers give up 2-3 quick goals in the first period as per the recent trend (game in Guelph notwithstanding), they will be toast.

If the refs hadn't been asleep in the third period, the Hounds' streak would have ended tonight. A disappointing finish, to be sure, but our boys can be proud of their effort.

So the post-game interview with McKee and the ongoing conversation later was about how McKee calls out the top players all season and is still doing so at the end of December. Is this like a parent saying "if you don't do whatever, you'll get a timeout" but never does? Is this just wind without repercussions?

Perhaps McKee needs to look in the mirror and say Hmmm, maybe I should have called a timeout after the 3rd goal as the team was spending a lot of the game in their own end and had also stopped winning faceoffs. The goal should have been to gain a tie and the point and then go after the win in OT.

Agree ! And will add that McKee hasn't figured out yet that trapping for the last 10 minutes simply doesn't work. Keep the pressure on especially with a team like the Greyhounds. Just frustrating to watch and so predictable.
