CHL Top Ten

Postby Number65 on Sat Jan 06, 2018 7:59 pm

The Rangers have been listed in the CHL Top Ten twice this year (November 21 and this week). Their record on the weekends following those recognitions: 0-5.

That's five of our thirteen losses on the season. Losing to SSM is understandable, but the other four losses have been to teams ranked eighth (Owen Sound and Mississauga), ninth (North Bay) and tenth (Sudbury) in their conference.

For the love of Tex, please leave us out for the rest of the season!!! It seems to get in the teams head and they stop playing the way that they were playing that got them there.

Both skids have come after convincing wins against Barrie, so maybe that's the bad luck charm.

You could easily pin it on goaltending, but most of team seems to have stopped playing. We can't clear the zone. We're stationary of the PP, which makes us easy to defend. We're not finishing our chances. And, most of all, we've stopped defending. On the Attack's shortie, Sherwood (one of the fastest skaters on the team) was coasting at the blueline when he could easily have have negated the 2 on 1 if he'd shown just a little bit of hustle.

It's so easy to pin on goaltending and we've proven to be highly prone to runs of consecutive games where the first shot goes in, with 2-4 more follow shortly thereafter, on a few episodes between contrasting intervals of playing to potential for a week or two. It totally deflates the team and snowballs downhill from there in my observation.

Looking more & more like we'd have to dump both the whole cupboard and our best young prospects to improve the roster much & make any splash this year given our needs, especially in net, after the others have loaded up.

Back in this week, for the third time on the season. Let's see if we can get a win this time.

Nice win over a hard working and fast Saginaw team.

The wait to see Logan Brown was worth it and as good as he looked he isn't in game shape yet.

The goal Eric Guest scored was one of the best of the season.

On to Flint
