Matt Lashoff has been called up by Tampa Bay, his first trip to the show this season (although I bet that the Bruins wished they had him on their backend tonight).

Seems as though our ex-Top Gun has taken the playoff reins for the Colts. Di Salvo is out with a knee injury and is unsure when he will be returning. I was starting to get worried that we traded Parks just to sit on the bench for the entire playoffs! But good for Mav and hopefully he can show that he is #1 and lead the team through to the Mem Cup - only if our Rangers don't make it that far!

Adam Keefe was the first star for the Toledo Walleye in the first playoff game vs Charlotte.

Classic Keefer---3 goals, 5 minute fighting penalty and 2 minor penalities!!!!

Pete Deboer was named assistant coach for Canada's world championship team. Too bad the Panthers couldn't have got into the playoffs, but I'm glad he'll be there for the World Championships.

I just saw that Spencer Anderson is suiting up for Hamline University in Minnesota....I was always under the impression that once you have suited up in the "O" you were no longer eligible to play in the NCAA...what gives??? Its a D3 school if that changes anything....

Ya that doesn't make much sense. I know for sure you can no longer play D1 after being paid your $50 a week in the CHL or play 48 hours of exhibition/gametime...anyways..not sure about the lower divisions though.

That's what I was wondering being a D3 school. Maybe in D3 if you paid your way because you were ineligible for D1.

That was all over the sports page back home when the deal was signed. Hopefully Luke gets some ice time in Portland before the season is over. I met Russ while covering the St. John's Maple Leafs in university. A class act and I'm sure he's still smiling at that news.

Spaling is making his playoff debut with the Preds tonight!
Too bad it has to be against my 2nd fave team. It will be cool to see my two fave NHLers battle it out though.

Congratulations to Mike Duco for scoring the game winner and being named the first star for the Rochester Americans as they take a commanding 2-0 lead in the best of 5 series vs the Abottsford Heat (Calgary Flames AHL farm team)!!!! 8) 8) 8)

The AHL website is showing it to be a best of 7 series and tied at 1. Abbotsford won Game 1 3-2.

Jakub Kindl was called up by the Wings and Boedker by the Coyotes, but neither has dressed yet (both of their AHL teams have been eliminated)

Steve Downie has been named to the Team Canada roster for the World Championships/

If anyone is watching the Preds/Hawks. Spaling has been having a good game, his line has been great for the Preds.
I'd love to see Spaling finally get rewarded with his 1st NHL goal and to get in the playoffs would be even more sweet.. as long as the Hawks still win it.

Spaling played an awesome game in a losing effort last night.

Richie is second in play-off scoring adding two more points last night in Philly's win.
