Heard a 570 news update this evening that says former Ranger Greg Puhalski has been hired as head coach and manager of hockey operations by the WLU Golden Hawks.
He his WLU all time leading scorer.
Get well soon Ben.

Matt Halischuk dealt to Nashville. Reunited with Nick Spaling.

Cue Peaches and Herb.

Here's an article on the Halischuk trade. Jason Arnott returns to Jersey for Hali and a second round pick. Maybe the Preds could pick up Azevedo as well and see if the three of them could work their magic at the next level.

Hallelujah! I can cheer for Hali again! I'd love to see him and Spaling again.
But you can bet on one thing, when the Flyers finally raise the Cup, there is a very good chance it will be handed to Richards first.

This trade filled me with glee. With Spaling being my fave ex-Ranger, I've watched every Preds game he's played in, I can't wait to see Halischuk get the call-up now! Instant chemistry right there!

Gregory Campbell is now a Bruin. He went to Boston along with Nathan Horton in exchange for Dennis Wideman and the #15 overall pick in the draft.

So, Deboer is down an ex-Ranger in his lineup, but this trade makes it far more likely that Scott Timmins will see NHL action next year.

Skinner might be a potential pick for Floridas 15th overall now

God I hope not, for the sake of Skinners hockey future. I really don't think he will still be there at 15 anyways.
I am estimating (my track record is pretty stellar) that Skinner will go between 6-10. He is far from a well kept secret anymore.
I expect to see Hall, Seguin, the big three on d to go and then our boy Skinner.

I got a feeling Deboer is on a very short leash especially now that Dale Tallon rules the Panthers den.
Will Deboer even still be there once Skinner is ready to make the leap to the pros?
I have to think that Deboer and Tallon were doing Horton and Gregory a favor by sending them to a team that stands a pretty good chance to make the playoffs yet again.
They got a pretty good return with some still local flavor. Wideman is a solid d with an offensive upside.
Now Florida will deal that 1st rounder to Toronto for Kaberle. I heard rumors.
Google won't search for Steve Downie because it knows you don't find Steve Downie, he finds you.

It also just increased the chance that Morin doesn't come back to the Rangers this year....

Ya, that's the only downside to all this. But lets hope the Hawks dig into Rockford instead of putting Morin into the lineup right away.

I see the Morin/Hawks situation much differently than you guys do. What would a contending team want with a one-dimensional offensive player (which Morin is at this point) on their 4th line? It makes no sense. Sure they need cheap players to get under the cap, but wouldn't they rather get a veteran ring chaser or a proven AHL guy who has 4th line intangibles? Morin would be an even-strength liability for sure and contending teams don't want guys like that to round out their rosters.

I think they just got Morin as sweetener in a trade where they sent more NHL talent the other way.

According to this morning's Vancouver Sun Florida just traded Victor Oreskevitch to the Canucks although I imagine he'll be going to Winnipeg. Michael Grabner, Steve Bernier plus the Canucks only draft pick in the first three rounds to Florida for Keith Ballard & VO.
Don't worry about what others think, they don't do it very often.

One by one, Dale Tallon is getting rid of the ex-Rangers on Deboer's squad. What's left is Scott Timmins and Mike Duco, who may or may not be in the NHL next season.

I actually like Victor's chances of making the Canucks next season. Trading Grabner and Bernier leaves some room on the roster at forward.
