I agree GH, I think Simpson stands down today.

Would be nice to grab Capobianco though wouldn't it?

It would Be Great to Have Capo as the Final Piece of this Deadline Puzzle But I think He would Have to Be very Creative to make that Happen.

I would agree with that. 7/8 years out is a little bit nonsensical to me. If anything, it just creates more overhead for the league IMO, tracking all the picks and all the conditions on picks that are so far away. Transactions seem like they would be easier to put through.

A couple of minor moves -- all involving Eastern conference teams.

IS this not more then what we paid for Tavares?

Mitchell Stephens

LDN 3 2017
OTT 2 2018
KGN 2 2018
OS 2 2019
LDN 3 2019
SBY 2 2020
LDN 3 2021*

Tavares went to London along with defenceman Michael Del Zotto and goaltender Darryl Borden. In return, Oshawa received forward Christian Thomas, defenceman Scott Valentine, goaltender Michael Zador, second round picks in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012, along with third round picks in 2010 and 2011.

Zador was to have great potential along with Thomas with Valentine being a solid D. Del Zotto being the same so I think those cancel each other out with Borden being a toss in. Actually when you think about it ADVANTAGE Oshawa.

Then it's Tavares for 4 Second round draft picks and two thirds.

Is Stevens as good as Tavares??? Or is this the new norm for trade.

If the league doesn't put a cap on trading future picks, there will be the potential for a team making a trade for a player presently swimming from one testicle to the other. Well, maybe not quite that extreme, since that swimmer could potentially turn out to be a girl.
Because I don't agree with your point, doesn't mean that I "don't get it". The possibility exists that I get it.....but still don't agree.

No, Players are move valuable than picks. We have up 3 players, 4 2nds, 2 3rds.

Christian Thomas was the centerpiece going the other way. He played 3 full seasons with Oshawa and wracked up 133 goals, 246 points in 212 games.

That's probably like us giving up Robert Thomas and another throw in roster player.

I understand that... but like I said the players weighed each other out going from team to team leaving picks for Tavares. Sure Thomas was the centerpiece leaving London but Del Zotto was no slouch and we all knew that so I am sure both teams were aware as well.

So like I said....I still see it as Tavares for Picks which were less then the Stevens deal. But we do have/had picks to burn so it really does not hurt the team at all.

Anyone surprised the greyhounds didn't do more, or anything really? Going off of just points they lead the OHL. It's the last year in the league for guys like Speers, Senyshyn, Miller,MacIntyre, Bouramman.

They're incredibly thin on picks but could have sacrificed youth I suppose, given the position they're in. On the flip side of the coin, moving any or all of those guys if they're looking to stock their cupboards again would have brought in a good haul.

Apparently 5 2nd round picks from a team in the east not enough to have McNiven leave town. To bad for the west teams.

Worth every penny for mitchell stephens. I did not like it before but without him we are not where we are in the playoffs. The kid NEVER takes a shift off. I have become a very bog fan of this kid. I still stand by my statement that it was basically the same deal we made for JT. Both trades I love. About to sit down and eat some crow pie.....yum.
