On the way home from work tonight, I had the radio station on AM980. At 32 minutes past the hour, they have sports highlights. It was said that a London Knights legend passed away. I just hoped that I would still be in the car at 46 minutes past the hour -- when they tell more about the top stories.

It was then when it was said Branks had passed. My response?

OH....NO!

RIP Don Brankley....er...."Branks". :(

Tribute to be held at Bud Gardens on July 11th:

http://www.lfpress.com/2017/06/29/knigh ... er-gardens

The London Knights are celebrating the life of their longtime trainer Don Brankley and hope the public will join them.

Brankley spent 38 years (1970-2008) tending to the needs of his boys and the franchise. A surrogate father to generations of players, a confidant of countless pros and one of the OHL’s most colourful characters, he passed away June 16 in Sudbury, near his home in Capreol, at age 70.

I am truly saddened by the fact that I am out of town and will miss the planned Memorial for one of the true good guys. Hope the Knight is a memorable one to all that can make as Branks was athe heart and soul of the Knights for 40 years.
