Moving an OHL team

Postby guelphguy101 on Tue Dec 08, 2009 2:47 am

Well folks there exists a private group of investors who are asking for some public consultation on their issue so I thought I would post on here to find out what your thoughts were as OHL fans.

The Idea is floating out there that a group will attempt to purchase the Brampton Battalion from their current ownership in hopes to move this franchise to Oakville. In Oakville the plans would be to create a 10 500 seat arena off of Trafalger road near the 407 entrance which would consist of a Casino/hotel complex linked to a Multi Million dollar state of the art JLC style arena. What’s backing this movement is a passion for strengthening the entire OHL for all the fans across the province and by doing so would be removing a troubled franchise with a extreme difficulty to sell tickets and advertisement/sponsorship revenue, and transferring them into a hockey hot bed of over 1,000,000 people drawing hockey fans from the Milton halton hills region, Burlington, Hamilton and of course the great city of Oakville. This transaction would provide the Eastern conference with a second London/Kitchener type franchise (currently has the Ottawa 67s) thus bringing a second dominate organization to the conference to help balance the league. The scheduling will obviously not be affected nor will travel as the team would remain within the existing divisional structure.

So now that I have provided some preliminary information I will open it up for your thoughts and comments. Thank you to all who wish to comment feedback is greatly appreciated.
