Kitchener at Erie 1/3/09

Andrew Yogan scored a hat trick for the second time in the last five games to lead the Erie Otters to a 6-4 win over the Kitchener Rangers in an Ontario Hockey League game played tonight in front of 4,213 at the Tullio Arena.

Sean Jones added two goals for the Otters, who won for the sixth straight time to move to 20-17-2-0 on the season. Luke Gazdic rounded out the Otters goal scoring while Ryan O’Reilly and Shawn Szydlowski collected two assists each.

Chris MacKinnon paced the Rangers with two goal and two assists. Scott Timmins and Jason Akeson completed the Rangers scoring. Kitchener dropped to 16-20-1-1 on the season with the loss.

The Otters led 2-0 after one and 4-2 heading into the third. Kitchener made it a one-goal game less than two minutes into the third to start a seesaw battle that was finally put to rest when Yogan completed his hat trick into the empty net in the final minute of regulation.

The Otters out shot the Rangers 31-26 in the game as Shane Owen posted the victory.

The three stars of the game were all from the Otters. Yogan was the first, Jones the second and Gazdic the third.
